Texas Tech University Expands Access and Opportunity with EddyAI™

For the first time, TTU uncovered 504 additional students who met top admissions criteria—previously hidden without EddyAI’s real-time data capabilities.
More than 31 students from this newly identified group have already confirmed deposits, directly advancing enrollment goals.
EddyAI processed and verified transcripts from over 1,752 unique high schools—achieving industry-leading accuracy at scale.
The EdVisorly Difference: A People-First Partnership
Texas Tech University’s (TTU) leadership set out to modernize their admissions process with a clear goal: to empower their hardworking team. The intention was never to replace people with technology. They wanted to support a dedicated staff facing an unmanageable workload.
In recent years, TTU experienced a significant increase in applications, which placed extraordinary pressure on their processing and admissions team. The volume was rising rapidly, and sustaining a high-quality, student-first enrollment experience required more than just additional effort—it required innovation.
When it came time to implement new technology, the team first explored traditional OCR vendors, AI tools, and automation platforms. But none felt right.
"Other companies were focused on reducing staff. That was the opposite of what we wanted. We wanted to support and expand our team, not replace it. We looked at a few companies. There were some that we liked the idea of, but they were either very rigid in the implementation, or it was very expensive to do customizations."
Selton Rigsby, Assistant Director, Processing
Unable to find a viable solution, TTU turned to a trusted partner. Their relationship with the EdVisorly team, established through the EdVisorlyRecruit platform, had already demonstrated EdVisorly’s deep commitment to enrollment success and their ability to deliver innovative, effective solutions. With EdVisorlyRecruit, TTU saw measurable increases in transfer student enrollment, and they believed the same team could take their admissions operations to the next level.
From the very first meeting, EdVisorly and TTU were aligned on one thing: people come first.
"It was almost like EdVisorly had researched our priorities before we even sat down for the meeting. We hadn't told them anything yet, and they already understood what we needed. That meeting happened at just the right time. We were just about ready to give up our search for a solution."
EdVisorly approached the relationship as a partnership. TTU found a collaborator who could help scale their operations without compromising the student-first philosophy that defines their approach to enrollment.
"Another big part of it for us, because we really like to try to innovate... was that EdVisorly’s team is so flexible. We’d say, 'we have an idea,' and the response was always, 'Yeah, let’s work on it and let’s share that idea and functionality with our other partners."
From the start, EdVisorly listened, adapted, and led with empathy.
"EdVisorly’s people-first approach aligned with our priorities right away. They were focused on how to strengthen our team, improve our staff’s quality of life, and ultimately provide better service to students. Their people-first mindset was what set them apart."
And critically, EdVisorly brought the capability to execute.
"EddyAI was the only product we looked at that had both the talent behind it to make what we wanted possible and the flexibility to actually do those things without having to lay staff off to make it affordable."
TTU saw tangible impact in a matter of weeks.
"Other institutions I've talked to who work with other vendors are either a year or more into implementation and the logic model still isn’t trained, or they haven't even started training it yet. We were already seeing results within weeks."
EdVisorly introduced EddyAI, an AI platform designed for enrollment teams. It was built not to replace team members, but to augment their capacity and impact. EddyAI adapted to TTU's complex needs, learned from the university's unique transcript data, and evolved continuously through direct collaboration with TTU’s team.

The Challenge: Too Many Transcripts, Too Little Time
Significant growth in transcript volume, and widespread inconsistencies in GPA calculations across high schools, shaped the way Texas Tech University (TTU) evaluated applicants. With GPA emerging as a critical factor in assessing academic readiness, TTU began recalculating every high school GPA on a consistent, unweighted scale.
"We had to recalculate unweighted GPAs for every applicant, regardless of where they came from. That took transcript processing from 45 seconds to over five minutes each. Multiply that by 100,000 transcripts a year. It became unmanageable."
As GPA became increasingly important in the admissions process, high schools grew frustrated with TTU’s standard conversion. They wanted to ensure their students had the strongest opportunity for admission and scholarship consideration. With their increasing transcript volume, the TTU team did not have capacity to calculate GPAs multiple ways, so many high schools felt their students were not being represented fairly.
"We were doing all this work only to make half of the people upset. We didn't have the time to calculate both GPA models, even though we knew it could help students."
GPA Recalculation and Manual Processing Transformed
Before EddyAI, recalculating GPAs was a tedious, repetitive, and an exhausting manual task.
"You're using your 10-key all day, and you go home and see numbers flashing across your eyes. My fingers would twitch at the dinner table."
Jared Nutt, Analyst
Each transcript took between two-five minutes to process. With EddyAI, that time has dropped to just 30 seconds, even before automation.
"Now I pull up a transcript and 90% of the information is already calculated. I might enter a school code, double-check a detail, and send it through. That’s it."
Harrison Roberts, Analyst
EddyAI calculates GPAs multiple ways, and selects the one that is most beneficial for the student—something TTU has never had the ability to do manually. This change has exceeded the expectations of internal stakeholders, high schools, and most importantly, it supports student success.

Enrollment and Financial Aid: More Students, More Access
"Our IT team is incredible, but like many across campus, they are stretched thin. With EddyAI, we no longer need to request custom data reports—we have the data we need right at our fingertips. That visibility is already helping teams like financial aid and enrollment across campus."
Shelly Bowman, Assistant Registrar
EddyAI is not only an operations force multiplier; it is a strategic lever for enrollment growth and financial aid access. By eliminating repetitive administrative tasks and delivering real-time insights, EddyAI gave the TTU team two things they needed most: time and data. With day-to-day pressures alleviated, the enrollment team could finally step back, identify key trends, and make intentional, data-informed decisions that advanced both student access and institutional priorities.
With more accurate data and faster processing, TTU began identifying high-potential students earlier in the process, including those who had not yet paid an application fee or submitted a waiver. That opened up new possibilities for recruitment and financial aid.
Leveraging EddyAI for GPA recalculation and analyzing applicant data, TTU identified and awarded scholarships to 500 additional high-achieving students who met top admissions criteria. As a result, over 31 students have already confirmed their deposits for Fall 2025!
"EddyAI sold me because having accurate data allows us to maximize scholarship potential for every student. And we're already seeing fewer disputes with the scholarships office."
This shift is about more than speed or efficiency. It is about visibility. With real-time access to high-impact data, TTU can act on insights that once sat behind IT tickets or spreadsheets. That means more students identified, more scholarships awarded, and more lives changed through higher education.
Flexibility, Partnership, and Innovation
EdVisorly has remained deeply involved through every phase of implementation—even when TTU’s team hit their busiest season. When TTU staff became overwhelmed with other obligations and campus responsibilities, and could not verify transcripts, EdVisorly continued working in the background to make EddyAI smarter and more user-friendly.
“Even with our team getting distracted with other obligations and not being able to verify transcripts for a few months, we are at 99% accuracy and on the verge of automating three quarters of our transcripts.
We recently were able to process the same number of transcripts in a regular business week that used to require weekend overtime. Not having staff work overtime was the first massive success indicator.”
The EdVisorly team remains accessible, responsive, and deeply knowledgeable.
"What was one of the more impressive things was we would ask the EdVisorly team questions, and they didn't have to ask some random person in a different time zone what the answer was. They just knew... they actually knew about transcripts and what is on them."
